Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Can Also Be Ancestral

More often than not, ancestral trauma creates a foundation for post-traumatic stress in this lifetime. This trauma might make you sensitive towards harsh circumstances and behaviour of others. A generational build-up of trauma can be triggered when you experience similar traumas. This can cause the body to become overwhelmed by past and present experiences.

The ancestral post-traumatic stress may have involved war, life-threatening situations or experienced severe abuse. Any form of abandonment, rejection, or betrayal would trigger the trauma.

This trauma may have been increased if your mother experienced a great deal of trauma or a life-threatening situation while she was pregnant with you. This can have a major effect on your emotional state in this lifetime.

How Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Manifests 

There will be an unresolved survival instinct cycle that helped you survive during traumatic circumstances. There may have been sexual or physical abuse – which can be another ancestral pattern. You wanted to escape your emotions and instead of improving your situation, you unwittingly make it worse. It takes a great deal of your energy to keep the trauma at bay.

People that you have felt safe with may have betrayed your trust and created great emotional stress. Your survival instincts of a fight, flight or freeze may have been triggered, making you nervous and always on the lookout for danger, which kept you safe in traumatic times.

Unfortunately, you have experienced trauma that your body has not completed, resulting in the survival instinct not completing the survival process. This can result in you feeling angry, irritated and, even moody.

Numbness and feeling frozen is another way in which the survival instinct manifests, causing you to dissociate. There may also be a strong need to control as compensation for the lack of control that you experienced in traumatic times. The end result can be the ability to attract people or circumstances that trigger the memory of the trauma.
